#71 DNP Round Table- Feat. Camilo Molina, Marcos Lopez, Gabo Lugo & Javier Raez

#71 DNP Round Table- Feat. Camilo Molina, Marcos Lopez, Gabo Lugo & Javier Raez

We start this episode with an R.I.P. to both Roy Burns and John "Jabo" Starks. Between Jabo and also the late Clyde Stubblefield, they were two of the most recorded/sampled drummers of all time. You can see the extensive list of credits for Jabo HERE.

The photo we talked about for Gabo Lugo was taken by Melissa Isabel and Frankie Leroux

This is the video with both Camilo and Marcos Lopez that Javier talks about.

Keep an eye out for upcoming things with Congahead dot com, like an artist spotlight and more! (also keep up with their Facebook and Instagram pages)

Some back story on Pharell and Chad from the Neptunes.

Here's a pic of Candido from back in the day shirtless on an album cover and also on a gig.

This is a link to Marcos Lopez's playlists so you can check out the music he listens to on Spotify

Our two product reviews are for Drum Tortillas, and the Cymbal Resonance System. Marcos Torres refers to the Big Fat Snare Drum company as well.

Prince actually used the LM-1 and not the LinnDrums machine (both were designed by Roger Linn). You can also check out on of Damon's favorite Prince songs (DEEP CUT), 777-9311, which was written and performed by Prince, with Morris Day on vocals. 777-9311 used a stock drum beat, which was programmed by David Garibaldi (Tower Of Power) for Roger Linn.

Damon brings up "When Doves Cry"  and the drums on that song which you can listen to....

Javier brings up Leon Bridges' new album and the track "If It Feels Good" and its similarity to "Love Thing" by the Whispers.

Since liner notes are scarce, we have found that All Music dot Com and Discogs dot Com are two of the better resources for finding out who played on/engineered what on music that is released. Spotify has taken steps toward updating people with regard to producers.

Nathan "Mick" Guzauski is a multi-platinum Mixing Engineer and sound engineer that engineered Daft Punk's last album. The other mixing engineer mentioned is the great Manny Marroquin

We also bring up that the Music Modernization Act has passed through congress and is a huge win for content creators.

This is a quick BLOG POST on how to submit for the Grammy awards.

PASIC registration is now open! See you there in November.

This is the "Justified" album (and song "Senorita") by Justin Timberlake (produced by Pharell) that was inspired by the Tribe Called Quest album "Low End Theory" (and here's some Low End Theory fun facts -Not mentioned, the great Ron Carter played bass on that album). The Making Justified has 15 parts. Here is PART 1

Gabo is currently listening to Rayvn Lenae. Marcos Torres listens to Tyler the Creator's "Flower Boy", MGMT's "Little Dark Age", Alina Baraz and Robert Glasper's last album, the Kaytranda Remixes of the Art Science album, Distinto Y Diferente and IFE.
